In the newsletter I included an article about the Berejiklian Government’s changes to the collection of the Fire and Emergency Services Levy (FESL).
I can now confirm the Government has changed its mind and the new FESL will not come in to play in July 2017.
In the days after my newsletter was printed, the Berejiklian Government suddenly announced their latest backflip. Incredibly, after 5 years of planning and modelling, it was the community that pointed out to them the unfairness of the new system.
For the time being, your local Council will not be collecting the FESL alongside your rates. It is not known whether your Council will be able to claim back from the State Government the tens of thousands of rate-payers dollars spent getting ready for the new FESL.
