The involvement of several developers and property owners in the Liberal Party ICAC investigations troubles me enormously. If person A donates to political party X and then gets a favourable and controversial policy decision, is that corruption? Can I turn people’s attention to the Newcastle rail line?
If everybody in politics knows that developer donations are banned, and understand clearly and precisely why that is, what does that say about the morality and ethical behaviour of those that do everything they can to spin, slide and hide their way around it?
Hidden developer donations are no “accident” or “error” or “other means”. It is simply a matter of people with a failed conscience that should not be involved in Politics. And yet, after all of the controversy, the Liberal Party continue to pursue this same method of accepting the donations from those same developers. Dare I say it, but “please explain?”
